BATCH PRODUCTION

Also known as: batch production, job production, intermittent production

A manufacturing method in which identical products are produced in predetermined groups or batches rather than through a continuous production process.

Batch production involves manufacturing a specific quantity of products before stopping production to switch to another product or batch. This approach provides flexibility to produce different products using the same equipment while maintaining consistent quality within each batch. It is commonly used in industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and consumer goods where production volumes vary or products require periodic changeovers. Batch production balances efficiency with customization, making it suitable for fluctuating demand and diverse product lines.
