Advanced Amount

Also known as: advanced amount, amount advanced, advance payment

A sum of money paid in advance on behalf of or to a party prior to final settlement.

An Advanced Amount is used in shipping and logistics to fund anticipated expenses before they are finally known or invoiced. It commonly covers costs such as port charges, bunker expenses, canal dues, or agency fees during a voyage or operation. The amount is paid ahead of time to ensure uninterrupted operations. Once final costs are determined, the advanced amount is reconciled against the final disbursement or account. Any balance is either refunded or adjusted in the settlement between the parties.
