Advance Charge

Advance Charge refers to expenses initially paid by a carrier, agent, or intermediary to facilitate the movement of a shipment. These charges may include forwarding fees, handling costs, customs-related payments, or other incidental expenses incurred during transit. The amounts are advanced to avoid delays and ensure smooth execution of the shipment. At destination, the delivering carrier or agent collects these charges from the consignee as part of the delivery or arrival charges. Advance Charges are commonly used in air cargo, courier, and multimodal transport operations.
