Advance Arrangement

Also known as: advance arrangement, pre-arrangement, prior arrangement

An agreement between a shipper and a carrier governing communications and conditions prior to the tendering of a consignment.

Advance Arrangement refers to understandings put in place before cargo is formally offered for carriage. It typically covers booking processes, documentation requirements, cargo details, timing, routing, and any special handling or regulatory conditions. These arrangements allow both parties to prepare operationally and commercially in advance of shipment. By setting expectations early, advance arrangements help reduce delays, last-minute changes, and disputes once the cargo is tendered. They are commonly used in regular trade lanes, contract logistics, and repeat shipment relationships.
