Why I Built The Logistics Mindset

I did not build it because the internet needed another logistics website. There are already plenty of those. I wanted something slightly different.

For most of my working life, logistics has been about figuring out what needs to happen next.

Theory matters. Regulations matter. Definitions matter. But operations have an irritating habit of not behaving like the examples in the training manual.

Over the years, I have worked across freight forwarding, manufacturing, commodity trading, project logistics, customs, transportation and supply-chain operations. Different cities, different cargo, different situations, but one thing remained consistent: logistics knowledge is scattered.

The information is usually out there. The harder part is finding it, understanding it and applying it.

A new person entering the industry may come across unfamiliar terms only to find explanations written for people who already understand half the subject. Even experienced professionals can spend far too much time searching for a simple answer.

That was one of the reasons I started The Logistics Mindset.

I wanted a place where someone could look up a term and understand it without needing a degree. But the site is not only about definitions and calculators. Sometimes understanding why something works matters more than simply knowing what it is called.

The Logistics Mindset is not simply about knowing logistics terminology. It is about learning how to think through logistics situations.

The website is still a work in progress. There is no development team behind it. I research the material, build the tools, find mistakes, fix what does not work and occasionally discover that changing one innocent line of code has annoyed three completely unrelated parts of the website.

Regulations change. Trade routes change. Technology changes. Political events can alter supply chains overnight. A useful logistics resource is never really finished.

And neither can the person using it.

The Blog will be a little different from the rest of the website. A little more personal.

Because logistics ultimately is not about containers, aircraft, vessels, documents or spreadsheets. It is about people trying to move something from one place to another while time, money, regulations and physics make the exercise more interesting.

That is the world The Logistics Mindset is intended to explore.

And this is where I am starting.
