Shift

Also known as: work shift, stevedoring shift

A designated segment of working time within a stevedoring or terminal operation schedule.

Shifts structure labor availability across a 24-hour operational day, commonly divided into up to three shifts. They directly affect berth productivity, laytime calculations, and port cost structures. Shift definitions are often embedded in terminal tariffs and labor agreements.
