The defined period during which a product remains suitable for use under specified storage conditions.
Shelf life is particularly relevant for perishable, chemical, and pharmaceutical goods. It establishes handling priorities and inventory rotation rules such as FIFO or FEFO. Exceeding shelf life may result in quality degradation or regulatory non-compliance.
