Shipper’s Letter of Instruction (SLI)
Also known as: shipping instructions letter
A document issued by the shipper or its agent providing instructions for document preparation and cargo forwarding.
The SLI guides freight forwarders or carriers on how to prepare transport and customs documents. It typically includes routing, billing, cargo description, and special handling requirements, particularly in air cargo.
