Carriage of Goods by Sea Act (COGSA)

Also known as: cogsa act, carriage of goods by sea

A law governing rights and liabilities in sea carriage of goods.

COGSA sets carrier responsibilities and limitations of liability. It standardizes bill of lading terms. The act is widely applied in international shipping.
