A floating aid to navigation that is permanently anchored to the seabed and used to mark channels, hazards, safe water, or other important navigational positions.
A buoy is a floating marker that assists mariners in navigating safely by identifying channels, fairways, isolated dangers, safe water, anchorage areas, and other navigational information. Buoys are secured to the seabed by chains or cables and remain in a fixed position despite tides and currents. They are identified by standardized colors, shapes, topmarks, and lights in accordance with the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) system, enabling vessels to navigate safely during both day and night.
