A technical specification or standard published by the British Standards Institution (BSI) that establishes uniform requirements for the design, manufacture, testing, quality, safety, and performance of products, materials, and services, including freight containers.
BSI Specifications are developed to ensure products and processes meet consistent technical, quality, and safety requirements. In the freight container industry, BSI standards helped establish uniform specifications for container construction, dimensions, materials, testing, and performance before the widespread adoption of international ISO container standards. Although ISO standards now dominate global container manufacturing, BSI standards continue to be used across many industries within the United Kingdom to support quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
