Bottleneck

A stage, resource, or activity within a process that restricts the overall flow of work because its capacity is lower than the demand placed upon it.
A bottleneck occurs when one part of a logistics or supply chain process cannot handle the volume of work passing through it, causing delays to everything that follows. Bottlenecks can occur at ports, warehouses, customs inspections, loading docks, transportation links, or production facilities. Identifying and eliminating bottlenecks improves throughput, reduces congestion, lowers costs, and increases the overall efficiency of the supply chain.
