Bale Capacity

The internal cubic capacity of a vessel’s cargo hold available for stowing baled, packaged, or general cargo.
Bale Capacity measures the usable volumetric space within a cargo hold after deducting structural intrusions such as frames and stiffeners. It is expressed in cubic meters or cubic feet. This figure is relevant for light but bulky cargoes where volume, rather than weight, limits intake. It is normally lower than grain capacity because it reflects practical stowage conditions for packaged goods. Accurate bale capacity figures support effective voyage planning and cargo allocation.
