Average Adjusters
Also known as: average adjusters, adjusters
Independent specialists who calculate and apportion losses and expenses arising from marine casualties.
Average Adjusters are appointed following incidents involving General Average or significant insured losses. They review documentation, evaluate claims, and determine each party’s financial contribution. Their adjustment statements formally allocate costs among shipowners, cargo interests, and insurers. Their work ensures equitable and legally defensible settlement of maritime losses.
