Aboard (ABOARD)

Also known as: aboard, on board, onboard

A maritime term meaning physically present on or inside a vessel, aircraft, or other means of transport.

Aboard is used to indicate that a person, cargo, or object is physically on or inside a vessel. In shipping and maritime operations, it commonly refers to crew members being present on the ship or cargo being loaded onto it. The term applies during all stages of a voyage, including loading, transit, and discharge. Instructions such as boarding personnel, placing equipment aboard, or confirming cargo aboard are standard operational uses. Aboard describes presence or placement rather than location within the vessel and is used broadly across navigation, operations, and documentation.
