Service Bill

Also known as: service bill of lading, memo bill

A Service Bill is an internal documentary instrument issued between carriers or agents for control and reference purposes, not constituting a contract of carriage.

A Service Bill, often referred to as a Memo Bill, is used within carrier consortia or agency networks to document shipment particulars linked to an original transport document. It records carrier names, document numbers, cargo details, and special cargo requirements but deliberately excludes freight and contractual terms. Its function is administrative traceability rather than legal carriage.
