Receiving Carrier
Also known as: first carrier
The carrier that receives a consignment on behalf of another carrier, agent, or shipper for onward transport.
Receiving carriers initiate the transport chain in interline or multimodal movements. They are responsible for initial cargo acceptance and documentation accuracy.
