Distributed Power Unit (DPU)

Also known as: distributed power, mid-train locomotive

A locomotive placed remotely within or at the end of a train and controlled by radio.

DPUs improve train handling, braking performance, and fuel efficiency. They reduce in-train forces on long or heavy trains.
