Derrick
Also known as: ship derrick, cargo derrick, lifting derrick
A lifting device on board a vessel consisting of a vertical post and an inclined spar used for cargo handling.
Derricks are commonly found on conventional general cargo vessels. They are used for loading and discharging cargo where shore cranes are unavailable.
