Booking Reference Number

Also known as: booking reference number, booking number, reference number, booking reference, booking ID

A unique identification number assigned by a carrier, freight forwarder, or logistics provider to a confirmed cargo booking for tracking and operational purposes.

A booking reference number uniquely identifies a shipment reservation throughout the transportation process. It is used by carriers, freight forwarders, terminals, customs brokers, and shippers to retrieve booking details, track shipment status, coordinate cargo handling, and prepare transport documents. The reference number links the booking to operational systems and is commonly required when submitting shipping instructions, making inquiries, or checking the progress of a shipment.
