BERTH

A designated location within a port, terminal, or harbor where a vessel is moored to load or discharge cargo, embark or disembark passengers, or carry out other port operations.
A berth is a specifically assigned space alongside a quay, pier, jetty, or wharf where a vessel is secured during its stay in port. Each berth is designed with suitable depth, length, and cargo-handling facilities to accommodate particular vessel types and sizes. Efficient berth allocation minimizes vessel waiting time, improves cargo handling productivity, and reduces port congestion.
