BC CODE (BC)

The BC Code was established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to promote the safe transport of solid bulk cargoes and reduce the risk of cargo-related accidents at sea. It provided guidance on cargo classification, stowage, trimming, moisture content, loading, unloading, and ship safety. Although it has now been replaced by the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code, the term 'BC Code' is still commonly used in the maritime industry when referring to the predecessor code or historical requirements. Understanding the BC Code remains important when reviewing older shipping documents and industry references.
