Audit

Also known as: audit, operational audit, financial audit

A structured and independent examination of financial records, operational procedures, or compliance systems to assess accuracy and effectiveness.

An audit evaluates whether processes and records conform to established standards, regulations, or contractual obligations. In logistics, audits may review freight billing, customs compliance, warehouse controls, or safety procedures. Financial audits verify accounting accuracy and internal controls. Operational audits assess efficiency, risk exposure, and process integrity. Findings are typically documented in a formal report with corrective recommendations.
