Agency Fee

Agency Fee refers to the remuneration paid to a shipping or port agent for acting on behalf of a vessel owner, operator, carrier, or cargo interest. These fees cover services such as coordinating port calls, handling documentation, arranging pilotage and tugs, managing crew matters, and liaising with port authorities, terminals, and service providers. Agency fees may be charged as a lump sum or as part of a detailed disbursement account. They are a standard component of port-related costs and are typically settled by the party responsible under the charter party or service agreement.
